BOSPORUS (BOSPHORUS) CRUISES

Its English name "Bosporus" comes from mythology. Zeus had an affair with a beautiful woman named Io. When Hera, his wife, discovered his infidelity, she turned Io into a cow and created a horsefly to sting her on the rump. Io jumped clear across the strait.

Thus bous=cow,
and poros=crossing-place:
Bosporus= "crossing-place of the cow."

The Bosporus or Bosphorus, also known as the Istanbul Strait, is a strait that divides the European part (Rumelia) of Turkey with its Asian part (Anatolia). However, the Bosporus is so much more than just a body of water separating two land masses! Throughout history it has been coveted for its strategic location – attracting some of the world's most interesting cultures to lay claim to the beautiful shores. One of the best ways to take in these amazing historic offerings is by boat. We offer several day cruises along the mighty Bosporus as well as an evening dinner cruise.

Afternoon Bosporus Cruise with lunch (Half Day)

  • Rumeli Fortress* (Departure 13:30)
  • Lunch on the boat
  • Poyrazkoy / Blacksea (15:00 - 16:00)
  • Kabatas (18:00)

You will feast your eyes on the highlights of Bosphorus while enjoying a delicious grilled fish, chicken or meatball menu accompanied by fresh salads, Anatolian cheese and special Turkish desert Baklava.

We will depart the cruise from Rumeli Fortress. Situated at the narrowest point of the Bosporus strait, this fortress was built to prevent aid from the Black Sea reaching Constantinople during the Turkish siege of the city in 1453 AD. You will see a panoramic view of Istanbul, Bosphorus and Black sea from the best point of view. You will have your lunch on the boat and see Poyrazkoy next. Poyrazkoy is one of the villages nearest to the Black Sea and is located on the Anatolian side of the Istanbul. From the minaret a bridge leads out to the gun emplacements and ammunition stores and a great view. Although the village is located on top of a hill, there is a road leading to the beach just before the village. Poyrazkoy is an excellent place for a break or for shelter while sailing from Istanbul to the Black Sea.

Our cruise will end at Kabatas around 6 pm and you will be transferred to your hotels.

Note: Bring your swimming suits - You will be able to swim off the boat from May to September.
