This private full day tour highlights include the Suleymanıye Mosque, Spice Bazaar, Golden Horn, Galata Tower and bridge |
Our full-day tour starts at a masterpiece designed by the legendary architect of the Ottoman Empire, Sinan, the Suleymaniye Mosque and Complex. Built on one of the seven hills of the historical peninsula with great city views, at Suleymaniye, we will visit the mosque, the medrese (religious school), the caravanserai, the library, and the bazaar. Some of the facilities are still being used nowadays. After visiting the mosque, we will walk towards the Spice Bazaar, one of the city's most colorful and aromatic places, with many shops selling spices, cheese, olives, eggs, and meat, among other products. Then, it's time to cross the iconic Galata Bridge, the bridge over the bay of Golden Horn and one of the famous landmarks of Istanbul. Our stop for lunch will be at one of the famous fish restaurants in the area - balık ekmek, a fish sandwich is a popular street food and a cultural experience specific to Istanbul. Next, we will walk through the alleys of Galata, filled with many fashionable cafes and boutiques, towards the iconic Galata Tower, which was the tallest building in Istanbul for hundreds of years. During the Ottoman period, Galata Tower functioned as a jail, observatory house, and watch tower. After the restorations in 1960, it was opened to the public, and today, it is a 360-degree viewing platform of Istanbul. We suggest combining this program with a 2-hour Bosphorus cruise on private or shared boats. |
